for beginners

YOU ARE WELCOME! Regardless of your fitness level, experience, or goals, we’re ready to help you find YOUR practice, in a safe, relaxed and friendly environment.

Get started!

Beginners are welcome in any class at Practice, but if you’re brand-new to yoga, please start with:

Vinyasa Basics classes (ongoing, drop-in): 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays + 7:15 p.m. Thursdays • Ashtanga Fundamentals (ongoing, drop-in): 5:45 p.m. Wednesdays Sunday Beginners Series (6 weeks, by pre-registration only, $75): 11:30 a.m. Sundays, and/or • Private or semi-private classes with a Practice instructor.

Beginner-level classes focus on basic principles of vinyasa (movement with breath) that apply to both Ashtanga and Vinyasa practices. You’ll learn physical alignment fundamentals, breath awareness and techniques (pranayama), posture variations/modifications, basic philosophical principles, practical applications, a little Sanskrit (the ancient language of yoga), and maybe a few bad yoga jokes.
